This page will include WIP screenshots and other fun stuff for MAME™, M1, and whatever else I'm working on.

Try something for me, eh?

Audio Overload’s not been updated for a while, so I’d like a little public smoke testing before things go official.

New stuff in this version includes (features are both Linux and Windows unless noted):
– WAV logging
– PSF2 support (SquareSoft games DO NOT WORK. Games which stream music instead of synthesizing it DO NOT WORK. Asking about either will get the feature disabled!)
– Channel muting for most formats
– Jump to button works (Linux)
– Open box remembers the last directory you were in (Linux)
– Playback thread priority boosted to prevent dropouts when AO is in the background (Windows)

Binaries are available for Windows, Linux (x86), and Linux (x86-64). I can also build a PS3 Linux version if there is demand.

[Note: These binaries have now all been updated to improve what is shown in the list when you open an archive – hopefully this will give more meaningful names in most cases. If you downloaded before, please redownload and you should have a much improved experience with archives].

[Note 2: Binaries updated AGAIN. The about box will show “2.0b8.2” for this version, which improves name-matching in archives again, fixes an issue with QSF playback (especially on 64-bit Linux), and enables a horizontal scroll bar on the Windows version].

Please discuss problems on the board.

Regarding the status of ZiNc

ZiNc is on hiatus and will only be continued if and when the abomination known as MAME PLUS PLUS dies. Posting about updates to it or ZiNc plugin packs for it does not help my motivation. I might post some screenshots from the WIP version as added incentive once in a while though.

DisARMing

Another day, another bunch of dead ARM7 bugs. Good stuff from this batch includes both Metroid games now being playable and improved music quality in some games.

Cheat sheet on the MAME significance: a good-running ARM7 core will be necessary for future PGM games (as their protection programs are trojaned or decapped) and sound in Naomi games if/when those are supported. It’s much easier to test the core with GBA games though.

Steroids pump up your ARMs

Ryan and I fixed several more ARM7 core bugs and a few GBA hardware emulation issues, and now many more games boot or are playable that weren’t before. Here’s just a few examples.
