Even more testing

Here’s Audio Overload 2.0b9 test 2.

New things from test 1:

  • Fixed issues with some SNDH/SC68 files
  • Fixed song time indicator in Windows GUI
  • Fixed garbage in channel names in Windows GUI
  • Automatically advances to next song when end detected (Windows and Windows 64 only: Linux versions just stop for now)
  • Experimental Win64 version for 64-bit XP and Vista

Here are the downloads: [removed, obsolete, check elsewhere on this site for the latest!]

If you have difficulties starting AO on Windows (you’ll get an error about “incorrect configuration” or something similar), you’ll need to install this Microsoft package for 32-bit and this Microsoft package for 64-bit. (Just to clarify: Vista may warn you that the app isn’t signed, that’s OK, just select “Run”. Any other problems launching probably mean you need the above linked packages though).

Turning Japanese

Here’s the prototype native 64-bit version of Audio Overload running on 64-bit Vista. It’s also showing off AO b9’s new Japanese language support.

If this had been an actual emergency…

But it’s only a test. Here’s Audio Overload 2.0b9 Test 1, currently only for 32-bit Windows (more versions to come).

  • Various cleanups and fixes
  • Completely new .S98 engine with much better compatibility
  • Preliminary .SSF (Sega Saturn) support
  • .SPU (Sony Playstation logs from the Eternal SPU plugin) support
  • 7zip container support (yes, it’s slow on solid archives)
  • Shift-JIS Japanese characters are now converted for proper display. This may not work except on Japanese versions of Windows right now.
  • AHX / HVT support
  • Greatly expanded .SC68 support – now over 50 subformats work including Future Composer and SIDMON
  • Rewrote timing emulation for PSF/PSF2 files
  • Entire project now built with Visual Studio 2005 rather than part VS and part MinGW. This makes a 64-bit Windows version possible

Download it here, and please report problems on this thread.

NOTE: if you get an error running AO about either a missing DLL or “incorrect configuration”, please install the Microsoft DLL pack for applications developed with Visual Studio 2005.
