Smit, Tormod, and the DU recently dumped 2003’s “Space Invaders / Qix Silver Anniversary”. It’s an unusual little board with a 16-bit H8S series microcontroller, sort of like if the sound system from Namco’s Funcube series were given a video framebuffer and left the rest behind. With the low amount of CPU power available, it’s likely the games are ports rather than emulation. This required a fair amount of work on the H8S core, but after a little help from Kale figuring out the video format we’re getting someplace.
