The nice thing about MAME’s move to Github is that it’s formally opened up the project for external development in a way no previous attempt has been able to. This week we got a large set of improvements for a skeleton driver that draws a lot of interest: iteagle.c. I’m going to omit the name of this external developer for now since I don’t know how they wish to be credited, among other things. (And if you’re that person, please check your spam trap and reply to my emails!)
Anyway, no games are actually playable yet, but they do all manage to load from the harddisk before dying, and here’s what it looks like so far:
