This is a distribution of the source code for some of the file format engines developed for Audio Overload. We’re starting with a few and will expand this later. While requests for this have primarily been from people interested in playing the songs in other environments (Amiga, BeOS, whatever) we also hope to encourage collaboration on the continuing development of players for these songs. In many cases, this will be the first public source code which plays this format.
So without further ado, here’s version 1.4.8 of the SDK. It includes engines for six formats: .PSF (Sony PlayStation), .SPU (Sony PlayStation), .PSF2 (Sony PlayStation 2), .SSF (Sega Saturn), .DSF (Sega Dreamcast), and .QSF (Capcom QSound). Release 1.4.8 fixes crashing/stability problems with some rips. The makefile will automatically compile correctly on Linux or Windows with the standard MAME MinGW distribution, and the code should be relatively easy to compile into other software with other compilers.
